We stayed at this hotel for two nights. It is probably the best hotel south of Kona airport. This 1970’s era hotel has been renovated at $$$. There is complimentary drink for each guest on daily basis. We had the ocean view room and it is spacious with fridge and microwave and clean. The main restaurant is a bit pricey and selection is limited. So, we walked over next door to Hilo Hawaiian for dinners. That said, their breakfasts are quite good serving up dishes like braised beef rib loco moco at reasonable price. There also is a guest lounge with free coffee and fruit punch. NB: The coffee is the same as the main dining room at $6 USD. Nightly live music. Parking is valet and pricey at $39 per day. Cabanas by the pool are free. Overall, quite a decent stay.

We had a great stay here. The location was convenient, and the property was beautiful, with several nice outdoor areas to relax. We especially enjoyed the short walkway outside, which was a great way to unwind. The bar next to the front desk was a nice touch, and the restaurant downstairs served delicious food. The room was clean and comfortable, and facing the ocean was a huge plus. The staff was friendly and welcoming. Special thanks to Kai for checking us in and making us feel right at home — she was excellent. Valet parking was also super convenient and easy to use. The location was also very convenient for visiting Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, which made exploring the Big Island easy and stress-free. Overall, it was a solid experience, and we would definitely stay here again.

This was my first time staying in Hilo. I was pleasantly surprised how much I liked this property. Gorgeous view of the Bay, Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa. Nice property to chill, plenty of outdoor seating. It's tucked away in a quiet part of Hilo, even though it was conveniently located. Free street parking available right outside of the hotel. What impressed me the most were how the staff went above and beyond to make sure I was well taken care of. Kaylin at the front desk welcomed me with gracious manners. Raquel and Nicole at the restaurant helped to make excellent recommendations that met my needs. Beautiful, clean and comfy room with stunning view. If I come back to the area, I'd be delighted to stay here again.

I stayed at the Grand Naniloa Hotel in Hilo for the Level Up 2026 real estate event, and it was a wonderful Big Island experience. My mom is a Centum member and used a certificate for our stay, and the hotel generously upgraded us to an ocean-view room overlooking the beautiful Hilo waterfront — the views were absolutely incredible. The breakfast was solid as I chose the fresh fruit and corned beef, and the courtyard scenery is truly spectacular. It’s one of the best features of the property and really showcases the natural beauty of Hilo, Hawaii. We also enjoyed the two complimentary drinks provided by the concierge, which was a great touch and added to the overall hospitality. All of the staff were friendly, helpful, and welcoming, which made the stay even better. The gym is small but well-equipped, perfect for maintaining a routine while traveling on the Big Island. The area surrounding the hotel has beautiful parks and walking paths, making it easy to explore Hilo on foot. We even missed the volcano eruption by just two days — talk about timing. Overall, I highly recommend the Grand Naniloa Hotel Hilo for anyone visiting the Big Island, whether for a Hawaii vacation, a conference, or a real estate event. Great service, amazing ocean views, and a memorable stay. I would definitely return.

Stayed 5 nights over Valentines day. Hotel, grounds and rooms were clean. Staff was friendly and the Valet was exceptional. Pool area and outdoor lounges were clean. Great place for the price. Close enough to the Volcano to beat most of the traffic for the last eruption. Visit local waterfalls, caves and food trucks.

Overall great 2 night stay with the family. Easy check in with mobile but still went to front desk for physical keys. Brooke was very pleasant and helpful, all her recommendations for food, coffee, site seeing were the best. Shes got the dopest nails in Hilo, thank you! Complimentary warm cookies and drink vouchers and few other things. Room was nice and clean, 24/7 gym was great. And close to everything you need

The hotel is very well managed. We got there at 2AM, and were very exhausted. The first sight was lots of friendly cats, and very kind staffs. We felt very welcome and immediately felt better. Our luggages were not sent to the destination, and we had to wait a few days to get them. A kind staff provided us a couple of days of toiletries, and stuffs that we needed. The ocean view from the lobby sitting area (and everywhere else) was very relaxing. I read a book every morning looking out the ocean, and drank coffee. We will definitely come back. The restaurants and coffee shops near the hotel were a lot better than other areas too!

Our stay at the Grand Naniloa Hotel Hilo was overall pleasant. The oceanside location is stunning, and the outside hotel along with the surrounding property is unique, scenic, and well designed, with the Christmas decorations added a festive and memorable touch. Aside from the lobby, the rooms and much of the interior felt dated and overused, making the hotel better suited as a comfortable place to sleep rather than spend extended time indoors. The food was solid and included good vegetarian options. Overall, despite the age of the interiors, the location and character of the property make it a unique and enjoyable place to stay in Hilo.
